Tips for Talking to Children and Youth After Traumatic Events

During my daily reading, I found this pdf compiled by SAMHSA to be very helpful and thought I should share! Moms, mental health, now more than ever, is so important. Check in with your babies- even when they put up a fight to talk, take space and come back- find that balance to receive information, listen and provide an empathetic response filled with guidance of course but also compassion for feelings. Remember, no two people process information the same nor are they affected in the same manner!

Have you or your child experienced a traumatic event? If so, share what worked for you! The reality is we never get over trauma but we can find ways to manage the overarching effects on our lives.
