10 Things Every Child Needs to Hear About Their Big Feelings

  1. There is nothing wrong with you for feeling this way

  2. Your feelings make sense

  3. The whole range of emotions are a normal part of being human. I feel all of these things too!

  4. Your feelings are telling you something. What do you think they are saying? They’re important to help us understand ourselves and others.

  5. Anger is sadness’s bodyguard. Is there sadness or hurting that you feel under the mad? It usually shows up when things are unfair

  6. Feelings come and feelings go. It can feel like we are stuck on an emotion for a while but it won’t stay forever.

  7. Anger can feel intense and SO BIG in our body. Your body is safe- it just needs to feel through and I’m right here with you

  8. It’s healthy to talk about our feelings and work through them

  9. You can feel angry and keep yourself and everyone else safe too. It’s ok to be angry and it’s not ok to hurt people. Let’s explore ways to move through anger in safe ways
