Sports/Extra-curricular

This morning I decided to drink my morning coffee on the porch to enjoy the quiet breeze and the somewhat stillness of Sunday morning! My neighbor had walked by with her dog and invited conversation regarding extra curricular sporting activities. I, of course, was inclined to participate as I have strong pursuits of our daughters’ inclusion in such activities to continue promotion of her self-esteem, self-confidence, identify the valuation of teamwork and laying the foundation for exploring, self-resilience and grit!

Because I felt the conversation was birthed from a prior interaction- I quickly shared oh, I have thoughts but I would love to hear more about your ideas! She then shared, I do not want my child (ren) to participate in sports- after being asked by my third grader about soccer this summer, this summer- The distress was so overwhelming, it was like a cloud of burden.

It was more on the lines as any Mother feels- letting go! I get it, I stand with her and identify we move/think differently- the interaction was so beautiful because I understood her and she understood me with such minimal words. Motherhood -there is no book but it is so understood! Love you Mamas! -we got this!

Moms, Moms 2 Be and Moms In Waiting when did your child (ren) start sports? were there any apprehensions? excitements? Share your comments below!
