Happy Father’s Day!
So, I love participating in healthy debating -this past week, I’ve had the pleasure of debating with the most intellectual and socially versed professionals I know. We all drew different conclusions about Father’s Day, yet, the message that continued to ensue was the Black Father being undervalued because of his presumed underrepresentation within the home environments.
VALUE vs. FACT
Well, this debate of course, is of insignificant contribution when you state the FACT!
Absent the male sperm, children are not created!
On this day, we celebrate you King- we celebrate those that are active, those that desire to be a better representation of self for their kids, those that cannot seem to figure their role out, those that cannot be involved because of incarceration, the immaturity of the Mother and/or any other reason that keeps you absent. Being mindful that stagnation in Fatherhood destroys the soul of our youth- represents the unprecedented cycle of individualism and the need for a shift in not only the culture but the societal expectations of the man.
Regardless, as we celebrate and value Mother’s whom are cancerous beings in the lives of their children- we say Happy Father’s Day! Celebrate with your child(ren), take time to celebrate that life was brought forth and celebrate the proactive trajectory of the relationships to sustain, rebuild or establish! Challenge yourself and your brother to make better choices in the journey of Fatherhood- remember consistency wins the game!
Let this post not offend you but rather serve as motivation to be an agent of change- children are depending on you; society is depending on you and YOU should be able to depend on yourself to not only do better but to model better! There is no perfect being but “want to” makes up for the difference!
To my Father, I say thank you. Thank you for being the epitome of representation of what a man is, of what a Father is of what a human being in love with the Lord is! So much you’ve sacrificed for your family and even as a grown woman- you make the little girl in me cry out for just one more hug and the smile of affirmation that I can do and be anything in this great big world! You are my first love, my hero and my Ace! Thank you for raising an emotionally intelligent being that is able to make positive contributions to society! Enjoy your day Dad in whichever way you choose!
