Remembering 9-11-2001

Yesterday, 20 years ago, we lost so many innocent lives- families were destroyed and we faced as a Nation the crisis of uncertainity to interests of security. I remember being at school and so frightedned -it was blarring through the intercom, the in class television which usually on played the morning announcements and even inside it felt as if I was suffocating- it was as if I could smell the smoke and exchanged breathes with the individuals trying to race for safety in a “no-win” circumstance.

Just days prior, I received my first cell phone, and was told in school for emergencies only. Well, I immediately called my Mom- I knew there was nothing that would keep her from getting to me and my siblings. I needed her, I wanted her presence, I had to feel her breath so I could breathe. Reflecting back, no matter what a circumstance looks like or feels like- a Mother’s love and touch is needed, it is required to reground our existence.

I want to take a moment to express my respect to those whom lost their lives, for those that worked tirelessly to help save and provide closure for so many families as well as our military family that have sacrificed everything to keep us safe. To the Moms out there- thank you for being the beating drum to keep the tempo of life in order despite personal challenges and obstacles.

You are love and you are loved! Blessings to all that share in this read!
