Aries love to be number one, so it’s no surprise that these audacious rams are the first sign of the Zodiac. Bold and ambitious, Aries dive headfirst into even the most challenging situations!

Oh, I should have mentioned, I am an Aries, born on my late maternal Uncles birthday; inadvertently the characteristics meet me to the T. There is no challenge I am not willing to conquer and I can make lemonade with only sugar water! No, not literally, but I needed an analogy so impactful to say that even with the scrap- I am confident, capable and intentionally desiring to WIN!

Pregnancy was no different. But halt, pump the breaks, why is there a red asterisk on the ultrasound screen? Is there a problem and they are just waiting to tell me at a more opportunistic time? The answer is no, that asterisk was there because of my age, yup even at 35 I was coined “high risk” or “advanced maternal age”.

The good news: 35 is simply a starting point for advanced maternal age. Risks don’t increase significantly until you’re over 40, and even then they are typically greater in women who are pregnant with their first child as a first pregnancy in an older woman can be harder on the body. Why you ask?, simply stated, it is because the body has not done it before.
